WHAT DOES TECHNOLOGICAL HUB MEAN?
We decided to name the NEW FERRO PILOT UNIT thinking about a “CONNECTION” between product research and development and our customers. A networking space to build links between all actors in the industry, both machinery suppliers and ceramic tile factories. A place where it is possible to produce high-level ceramic prototypes through the use of state-of-the art materials and technologies.
Ferro’s TECHNOLOGICAL HUB is equipped with ceramic press with DIGIDRAWER “DGD” digital decoration system, glaze wet milling department, glazing line for sizes up to 60×120 and 80×80 cm with both airless and waterfall application available, digital decoration machines, airpower full size grit application machine, firing kiln for floor and wall tile technologies, complete polishing line suitable for glossy surfaces, semi-matt surfaces, matt surfaces, relief surface honing. The finishing line is furthermore equipped with a system to apply treatments for surface open porosity sealing.
WHY IS THE TECHNOLOGICAL HUB SO RELEVANT?
Ferro’s technological hub is located in Italy, in Fiorano, within the Sassuolo ceramic district, as everybody knows the most important research and development centre for ceramics worldwide. It was first of all born with the intention to build prototypes for our customers for new machinery installations, plant start-ups those ceramic tile companies feeling the need to test new application possibilities. The technological centre will be operating in networking mode with all industry stakeholders and will actively cooperate with machinery suppliers to test new process and product developments, new material lines and even new technologies.
It will be obviously available for all Ferro sites worldwide.
